The best roses for beginners
easy-care, robust and resilient rose varieties
Beautiful roses are plentiful - but not all of them are easy to keep.
That is why, for getting started with gardening with roses, we have compiled a practical variety list from the large number of roses of all classes. The idea was to show the best roses for beginners. If "Robust and resilient roses for every garden" were written above these recommendations, they would be just as valid.
Beginner roses from all groups
The varieties we have chosen stand out within their respective type for easy care, robustness, healthy foliage and winter hardiness. Many of the healthiest roses were never entered for ADR testing. We have therefore not limited the selection to ADR roses. It therefore also includes the most beautiful and easiest-care English roses, rambler roses and old roses with good foliage health.
We have also not only considered repeat-flowering roses but taken into account the characteristics of each rose class. The suggestions therefore also include single-flowered, natural-looking and insect-friendly rose varieties - something for every use in the garden.
Above all, we advise newcomers to get an overview of the different types and classes of roses.
Robust rose varieties - not only for beginners
This selection offers such a broad range of growth habits, flower colours and fragrance that it should provide a worthwhile recommendation for every location and purpose - also for experienced rose gardeners.
These proven, easy-care and above all healthy and robust beginner roses - which will certainly also give experienced gardeners some pointers for the right choice in more problematic locations - are, however, to be seen only as a suggestion. When looking for the right rose we recommend that you also consider other varieties and, above all, take the experiences of other customers into account.
Should you feel that a particularly beautiful, rewarding rose variety is missing, we would be glad to receive a hint by e-mail.

Which rose blooms the longest?
The rose variety with the longest flowering period cannot be named as such. However, there are very many roses that tirelessly form new flower buds again and again well into winter. Much depends, though, on the location and the climatic conditions.
With us, Parade, Colette, Mary Rose and Sophy's Rose stand out in particular.
