21 March

High order volume / delivery times:

at the moment even plants marked as available immediately / in stock have a waiting time of up to 10 working days before the dispatch date.

If you have a good reason (e.g. birthday/gift, travel, times when you are at the delivery address) why your shipment should be sent earlier, please state it in the comments.

11 February

If you are on Facebook: take a look at our new Facebook group Roses & Clematis by Schmid Gartenpflanzen or at our Facebook page.

p class="callout alert">5, 10 and 20 % off selected bare-root roses!

From Friday, 18 February, 3:00 pm until Monday, 21 February, 7:00 pm we are reducing a lovely selection of bare-root roses by 5, 10 and 20 %.

These include some English David Austin roses, which you can get from 10 euros each.

13 January

On request, bare-root roses and clematis are still being sent immediately or very promptly. If possible, please state your preferred delivery date in the comments on your order.

We have released some sold-out rose varieties for ordering again as bare-root plants.

For the kitchen garden you should now think of seeds (for example FlowerSprouts / kale sprouts), seed compost and straight away horn shavings and fertiliser too ;)

22 December

In the 'new plants' section a few interesting rose varieties have been newly added to the shop. Some beautiful varieties that were previously only available through Peter Beales can also be shipped directly by us from about February, for example the very beautiful and rewarding Diamond Jubilee, the patio rambler Open Arms etc.

Winter shipping: Over the winter we ship the following items continuously, provided they are shown as available 'immediately':

If you would like a later shipment in spring, please state this in the 'Comments' field of the order. We will cancel any additional shipments that may be shown, where possible.

Container roses can be shipped again from about mid-March, also combined with plants that are available 'immediately' and with optimised shipping costs. Unfortunately this is not possible with clematis.

Far too complicated?
If you order soil, fertiliser, soil activator and a few other products along with your plants, you save one shipment each time => more about the special offers

The newly potted containers with a delivery date of June will probably be available to order at the beginning of March.

3 November

The autumn shipping of the bare-root roses is in full swing. For individual varieties, however, the dispatch date is still delayed by 1 - 2 weeks. All (pre-)orders should be shipped by the third week of November (week 46).

Tip: planting bare-root roses is completely unproblematic even if the ground is slightly frozen on the surface. Read more in the => planting guide for roses.

15 June

As planned, the dispatch of the container roses begins.

So that this can run smoothly, we ask you

  • to understand that availability by telephone may be limited
  • and therefore to contact us by e-mail wherever possible
  • to understand that a reply may occasionally take a while or be very brief
  • to refrain as far as possible from general questions about roses, choice of varieties and care.

We ask our customers in Memmingen

  • to visit the nursery from Monday to Thursday if possible only from 3:00 pm, once most of the shipping work is done
  • if you are collecting plants, to check availability online beforehand. Roses that are not marked as available are either not in stock or already reserved. Reserved roses cannot be taken away, even if a specimen is standing in the nursery.
The exception at present is standard (tree) roses and a few varieties of solitaire roses.
  • if you want to be on the safe side, to place an online order with the note 'Collection' no later than two days before your visit, gladly also stating the date on which you would like to take the plants away. Only in this way are the plants guaranteed to be in stock and reserved for you.

If you have an open order that you are currently waiting for, we ask you for:

  • a little patience; we ship preferably in the order in which orders were received
  • a notification by e-mail if you have planned a holiday in the next 3-4 weeks. We will then adjust the dispatch date accordingly
  • to let us know additions and other change requests to existing orders likewise preferably by e-mail .

Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you lovely summer days.

29 May

We thank you for the overwhelming interest in the offers on bare-root stock and wish you every success with planting and much pleasure with your roses.

The clematis hybrids are currently in bud or in bloom. Container roses can be reserved for shipping from mid-June. Some varieties are already running low, so reserving in good time may be worthwhile.

Over the next few weeks we will gradually add which varieties will (definitely) be available bare-root again in autumn. Reservations will be opened up in June.

29 April

Please note our special offers for the end of the season on bare-root roses

16 April 2021

At the moment "Click & Collect" only - please send us an e-mail or place your order in advance via our web shop.

1 April (no joke!) - Shipping information

Please also note: Our Easter offer from Good Friday to Easter Monday

Because of the current situation and time of year there is generally very high demand for plants. This unfortunately sometimes results in somewhat longer delivery times.

To give you the best possible overview of which plants can be shipped when, here is an overview:

Bare-root roses

  • Roses marked „immediately“ in the shop are in stock in the cold store and should be shipped within 3-5 working days, also after Easter
  • Varieties marked „until the end of April“ are still, or again, on their way to us, so dispatch may still take a little while.

=> to the bare-root roses

PLEASE NOTE: If your basket contains bare-root roses with different delivery dates we will generally ship them at the later date. Unless you have two items from the fertiliser/soil category in your basket or agree to a further shipment being charged. Please point this out to us explicitly in the comments.

Clematis

  • open pre-orders: because it turned colder again (and an additional public holiday was briefly under discussion) we had to postpone dispatch slightly. Despite the other spring work, we expect to be able to ship the pre-ordered plants all in the week after Easter.
  • for new orders you should allow about 5-10 working days until dispatch. This will return to normal by the end of April, however.

=> to the clematis

Container roses

  • roses marked with delivery date „spring“ will be shipped promptly. After Easter, however, there may be minor waiting times of 3-5 working days here too.
  • Varieties with delivery date „June“ come from the current potting and are already growing on our container areas. When they are ready to ship depends on the weather over the next few weeks.

They are shipped as soon as they have rooted sufficiently to survive transport well; early to mid-June is a good rule of thumb, though. Orders are generally then shipped in the order in which they were received.
  • If you have your eye on one or more specialities or particular varieties, this year we strongly advise you to pre-order them promptly.

=> to the container roses

Peter Beales roses

  • Customers who have pre-ordered roses from the Peter Beales range will be informed in a separate e-mail in the next few days

Please note:

If an order contains container roses and clematis, these cannot be shipped together and we have to charge for a second shipment. Because no bare-root roses are shipped in June, this also applies to bare-root roses and container roses from June.

Tip: You can avoid these multiple shipping costs too, for example by ordering a soil activator along with the bare-root roses and a fertiliser for the containers.

18 February

Shipping schedule for spring

  • bare-root roses - are still available for immediate dispatch in more than 400 varieties
delivery date shown 'immediately' or 'mid-February' - can be shipped together with overwintered container roses, Peter Beales roses and clematis
  • overwintered container roses - we also ship these immediately, provided there are no more prolonged periods of frost
delivery date shown 'immediately' or 'spring' - can be shipped together with bare-root roses, Peter Beales roses and clematis.
  • Quantities for the newly potted container roses have already been entered and these can be reserved; dispatch is from mid-June, individual varieties possibly earlier
delivery date shown 'from mid-June' - the actual delivery date is determined by the weather.
  • Roses from Peter Beales in England can be (pre-)ordered until about mid-March for delivery at about the beginning of April
delivery date shown 'spring 2021' - on request we combine these with our bare-root roses, container roses available immediately or clematis
  • In the second half of March we will receive new clematis - these can already be ordered now. Orders containing plants overwintered here we naturally also ship immediately.
delivery date shown 'immediately' or 'end of March' - we combine orders with both delivery dates on request, and bare-root roses can also be sent together with clematis in one shipment. Please state your wish in the comments on the order if it differs from the shipping costs charged / the number of shipments.
  • Seeds (vegetable seeds, wildflower meadow mixes and similar) can now also be ordered on their own. Dispatch is immediate; on request we add other plants to the same shipment. If the order also contains seed compost or fertiliser, the whole shipment is free of freight charges for the seeds.
  • Soil, fertiliser, soil conditioners and horn shavings are shipped immediately; the price includes shipping within Germany. If the order contains other products, one shipment per bag / box is free of freight charges.

Peter Beales roses temporarily hidden

The still unresolved Brexit is bringing unforeseeable changes, which unfortunately also seem to include a not inconsiderable price increase. Until this is finally settled and our web shop has been adjusted accordingly, we have temporarily deactivated the affected varieties.

At the moment we still offer about 40 different varieties of Beales roses that we can deliver from Memmingen.

These include popular varieties in smaller quantities, but also single specimens of very rare roses. They are listed under the bare-root roses. In the list you can recognise them by a GBP / £ price in brackets.

30 November

This year it is back - the popular rose Advent calendar

As early as about 2004 we had our first online Advent calendar with beautiful pictures from our nursery, the animals in the garden centre and our roses. Over the years, unfortunately, we have not always managed to put one online.

In this special year we would like to brighten up the Advent season a little for you and have scattered a few special offers between the pictures. Do take a look at the Advent calendar 2020.

We wish you a contemplative pre-Christmas season, and please continue to stay healthy,
Yours, the Schmid family

24 November

Peter Beales roses spring + autumn 2020 have arrived
Good things come to those who wait .... After the spring delivery from England was cancelled because of the pandemic, it has now arrived together with the first roses ordered for autumn. The parcels are being packed, repacked and supplemented with our bare-root roses and, where applicable, rose fertiliser or similar.

For the Beales roses we can currently still accept orders for a second, later delivery in autumn. As the danger of a no-deal Brexit still exists, we will in any case receive this in 2020. You will soon find out here the exact date for the order deadline and delivery to you.

this offer remains in place permanently and applies to all potting soils and products from the 'fertiliser' section - as well as the newly added plant tonic ORUS Pflanzenaktiv.

16 April 2020

The season for bare-root roses is entering its last weeks. Because of high demand some varieties are available again.

=> to the bare-root roses

There are also some new things to discover - both among the roses and the clematis.

=> new plants (constantly updated)

Sales at the nursery are still not possible; please use our online shop until further notice.

1 April 2020

Even though many of our rose customers may intuitively believe otherwise, it is no April Fool's joke:

Seeds for the kitchen garden, in many lovingly assembled, practical packages - e.g. a snack package for gardening with children, heritage vegetables, salad variations, a complete herb garden and much more.

All packages include enough vegetable fertiliser for the first year, including shipping within Germany.

Available to order immediately, dispatch expected to start from 6 April.

29 March 2020

we assume that this year at least the early rose and garden fairs will not take place and that sales on site at the nursery will also not be possible for quite some time.

As in previous years, we have potted container roses for sale at the nursery and at the fairs, which we will probably not be able to sell this way.

So that these plants still find a good home, we have decided to offer a special voucher with 10 % discount that can be redeemed from 1 June.

From that date the Pflanzpunkt, which we have been selling at the exhibitions every year for 20 years now, will be ready to ship. Even though the discounted vouchers are really intended for exactly these, they are valid for all products in the online shop - so e.g. also potting substrates and fertiliser and can of course also be passed on.

24 March 2020

Unfortunately we can no longer deliver the roses from Peter Beales in England in spring.

The staff at Peter Beales were busy getting the roses intended for us ready for dispatch, but the general situation in England has changed in the meantime and Peter Beales decided to end the season very abruptly to protect its employees and to contain the spread of Covid-19.

An updated statement from Peter Beales Roses & Peter Beales Garden Centre

Coronavirus/Covid 19 - 24/03/2020

In full support of the Government’s latest initiative to try to control the spread of this terrible disease we are taking further immediate steps to protect our customers and staff by the closure of our garden centre and gardens. The despatch of all mail order stock will also be temporarily suspended.

On the one hand we regret this, but we fully understand.

What happens next?

We will very soon send out a newsletter with further information and shortly afterwards also write directly to the customers affected by e-mail.
The most important points in summary:

  • the pre-ordered roses from Peter Beales will no longer arrive in spring
  • we can carry all pre-orders over to autumn, on identical terms
  • we will create an option for you to cancel or also supplement them

Stay healthy,
The Schmid family

23 March 2020

Delivery restrictions added to the entry of the previous day.

22 March 2020

Shipping within the EU is not affected - apart from the following regions.

  • areas in quarantine in Austria (Paznaun / Arlberg / Heiligenblut / possibly others)
  • almost all regions in northern Italy

you will find a current overview => here

Newly arriving orders with items 'available immediately' are packed and shipped as quickly as possible.

  • we have received a delivery of clematis, including some new varieties.
The stock shown in the web shop is up to date.
Pre-orders placed with the delivery date 'spring 2020' should reach you in the coming days.
Newly incoming clematis orders with plants 'available immediately' are processed as quickly as possible; combining them with bare-root roses in one parcel / 1x shipping costs is possible.
  • Clematis with the delivery date 'August' are pre-orders. We will compare our supplier's stocks in the coming days; many varieties may already be available in April.
  • bare-root roses and container roses with the delivery date 'immediately' will be shipped as quickly as possible
  • for the pre-orders of Peter Beales roses for spring planting we currently assume that we will get them shipped in the first half of April. Should anything change, we will inform the customers affected by e-mail.
  • Soil, fertiliser and horn shavings will be shipped as quickly as possible
  • The 'Fertiliser included - free shipping' promotion continues to apply => more on this and current special offers

If you need your plants quickly:

  • make sure that only items marked 'available immediately' are in your basket
    OR
  • write in the comments on the order that you agree to several shipments and the resulting additional shipping costs
    OR
  • place several orders for plants with different delivery times

As quickly as possible currently means: dispatch date at most 2 days after receipt of the order, but in most cases still on the same day.

Contactless delivery

Shipments are delivered contactlessly. The parcel service rings the doorbell, puts the parcel down and steps back so that you can take it. A signature is not required until further notice.
