Climbing plants
Climbing plants include deciduous and evergreen woody plants that climb to airy heights on trellises, fences, walls and trees, either by twining or with adhesive roots or small suckers.
In the realm of climbing plants, the balance of power is distributed somewhat differently from what you might expect. Among flowers, the rose undisputedly holds the rank of 'queen'. With its variety of species, different flowering times from April to October or even in winter, and above all its colourful, sometimes huge flowers, some of which are also fragrant, the clematis has more than earned this title among climbing plants.
Among the best-scented plants that grow upwards are still climbing roses (which combine superbly above all with clematis from the Viticella group). Anyone who wants to turn a house wall up to 10 m high, a tree or something similarly large into a bee pasture in summer will not get around a rambler rose.
