Roses bred by Kordes

The roses of the breeder Kordes have long been very popular. Many of his varieties are among the most beautiful and best roses for beginners.

The most diverse varieties arose over 5 generations. Unlike the English roses, Kordes roses cannot be recognised at first glance. All growth and flower forms are represented in the most varied colours. Rewarding varieties are found above all among the Kordes climbing roses / Klettermaxe ( => Modern Climbing Roses ) and shrub roses.

New, promising varieties are often entered for the ADR trial. Kordes roses and varieties from other German breeders make up a large share of the ADR varieties.

With Rosa Kordesii, Wilhelm Kordes II created a rose class of its own, distinguished by frost hardiness and vigorous growth. It was used as a starting point for further breeding not only by Kordes himself but also gladly by other breeders.
