Lichtkönigin Lucia is a repeat-flowering shrub rose with large, richly double blooms with a good fragrance in a strong lemon yellow.

The plant is a very robust, healthy shrub with a strikingly abundant flowering. It can also be used as a smaller climber up to about 250 cm.

Lichtkönigin Lucia from Reimer Kordes already received the ADR predicate in 1968 and is still one of the best yellow varieties. It owes its name to the Luciafest, a Scandinavian tradition observed mainly in Sweden in honour of the white-robed Queen of Light.

Lichtkönigin Lucia (the name is based on the custom from Sweden, where the Lucia festival exists) is one of my favorites, she is the most free-flowering rose I have ever had. We took her over in the garden, and back then she still suffered a lot from black spot (SRT), which hardly affected her floriferousness. With a heavy heart I consistently sprayed poison, but also kept collecting all affected leaves, and when pruning I made sure that the wind can blow through all the shoots; now she has no SRT anymore and blooms and blooms and smells wonderful...

Yes, I can only agree with my predecessor: a truly very free-flowering rose - even though it is very prone to rose rust. Still, it sets plenty of buds and tolerates wind and rain just as well. By the way, for strengthening (other roses too) I have had the best experiences with "horsetail extract". It provides for strong foliage and strengthens the plant in general. Lucia is a very beautiful rose that sets wonderful accents in the garden with its bright yellow flowers.

What I love most about Lichtkönigin Lucia is her cascading growth habit. The dark green glossy leaves form a wonderful contrast to the bright yellow flowers. The abundance of blooms is truly gigantic and she is strongly fragrant. In our garden she stands bright but shady, she only gets 2-3 hours of sun. I have never found rust on her, and even of the black spot, which is the main problem in our garden, only a few little leaves are affected. Without pruning she gets a good 2 m tall with us.

Greetings from Steffi

Wunderbare Strauchrose.
