The rose variety Rose de Resht is one of the best, best-known and most widespread 'Old Roses'.
The compact-bushy, upright-growing old shrub rose bears healthy, dense grey-green foliage with a hint of blue and is very hardy.
Its fuchsia-red, rosette-shaped blooms have a slightly darker centre and are very strongly fragrant. Because of their high content of essential oils and outstanding, strong fragrance, they are also very popular as an ingredient in cooking.
If you prune Rose de Resht back further, the plant is also excellent for containers and balconies.
Its flowering period lasts from June to autumn; apart from short pauses, Rose de Resht can be described as continuously flowering.
Rose de Resht owes its name to its eventful history. It was discovered in 1949 in the Persian city of Resht (Iran) by Norah Lindsay and brought to England, from where its success story began.
That the plant found in Resht is a Persian wild rose is very unlikely and strongly disputed. Its true origin can no longer be established, but it is assumed that its origin lies in France. Because of its willingness to flower, it is often classified as a Portland rose, even though its other characteristics such as foliage, flower form and fragrance point more towards R. Damascena.
Rose de Resht is frost-hardy, rain-resistant, unsusceptible to diseases and grows without trouble in partial shade - which is why it is considered one of the most rewarding and most uncomplicated roses of all. It tolerates almost any location and, apart from an annual pruning in spring and the removal of spent blooms, requires hardly any care.

Rose de Resht stands in 3 places in my garden. Blooms dreamily, repeat-flowers. Without diseases and very hardy.
Absolutely recommended.Automatically translated · Show original
I have had this rose in my garden for 6 years. In my opinion it is suitable for beginners, especially because of its robustness and easy care. Very hardy, intoxicating fragrance, free-flowering, good repeat-flowering and very disease-resistant. Can also be cultivated well in a large container.Automatically translated · Show original
The size given as 1 metre is not always right - ours is over 1.50 m tall, has very healthy foliage, and produces relatively small but very beautifully double and gloriously fragrant flowers until autumn.Automatically translated · Show original
I only planted this rose last May. No sooner was it in the ground than this wonderfully fragrant rose started to bloom. I'm also fascinated by the colour.Automatically translated · Show original
I came across this rose by chance at a local nursery, took it home and I'm thrilled. Great fragrance, very good resilience. Perfect.Automatically translated · Show original
Hallo,

Beautiful bloom, prone to rustHad this rose in the garden for 20 years (open south-east position) and for 20 years massive problems with rose rust. The first flush of blooms was super, but even then everything at the base of the flower was orange, likewise the undersides of the leaves. Neither tonics nor fungicides helped.
Probably the humidity is too high here...
Now it had to make way for construction work.Automatically translated · Show original

Very good qualityI received the delivery of bare-root roses at the beginning of April 2024, and a good 2 months later my Rose de Resht is blooming!
