Why a soil activator is indispensable for your garden
Healthy soil is the foundation for magnificent plants, lush beds and rich harvests. This is exactly where a soil activator comes in. It improves the soil structure, promotes soil life and ensures that nutrients and water are optimally available.
More vitality for your plants
A soil activator supports the microorganisms in the soil that break down organic matter and convert it into nutrients available to plants. This strengthens root growth and makes your plants more resistant to disease.
Improving water and nutrient storage
The benefit is particularly noticeable in dry summers: the soil can store water better, nutrients remain available for longer and the plants grow healthy and strong.
Reduce weeds, make maintenance easier
A well-activated soil keeps weeds in check, as the cultivated plants grow faster and outcompete the unwanted greenery. This saves time and effort in garden care.
Conclusion:
Anyone who wants beautiful beds, healthy roses, vegetables and ornamental plants in the long term should not do without a soil activator. It provides a living, fertile soil – the foundation of every successful garden.
What does a soil activator do ?
Regular use of soil activator stimulates the formation of new, nutrient-rich humus by providing ingredients and trace elements that are easily usable for soil creatures such as earthworms and beetles and for microorganisms.
This fresh, renewed soil offers both ornamental plants and useful plants in the garden a solid basis for an abundant bloom and higher yields when growing vegetables. For a dense, healthy lawn, spreading soil activators together with lawn fertiliser in autumn is ideal.
Will I get a better lawn by using a soil activator ?
How is a soil activator applied and dosed ?
We recommend applying the soil activator as follows, depending on the situation / problem. The quantities apply to normal soil; on heavily used or barren soils up to double the quantity can be applied.
- General soil improvement
150-200g/m2 - Soil activation after construction work / of barren soils
200g/m2 - Problem locations with ailing plants or declining yields
200g/m2 - Lawns (also more in less dense spots)
100-200g/m2 - Vegetable garden
150g/m2 - Ornamental plants / flowers
100-150g/m2 - as an additive when planting new
200g/litre of potting soil, well mixed
How do I use soil improvers in problem locations and for struggling plants ?
When is soil activator applied ?
Soil activator can be applied all year round, even directly when planting. An overdose of soil activators is not possible.
Particularly sensible times are early spring, together with a fertiliser after the main flowering period, and in autumn and winter. In early autumn, when the soil is still warm, the microorganisms can still become active over the winter. Valuable humus is already built up by the coming spring.
May soil activator be used in organic farming ?
In what pack sizes can soil activator be bought ?
We offer the organic soil activator in 3 kg cartons as well as 5 kg, 10 kg and 25 kg bags with free shipping.
Is Oscorna soil activator poisonous to dogs or cats ?
No, Oscorna BodenAktivator contains no ingredients that are toxic to pets. It is harmless if dogs or cats eat the soil improver freshly spread in the garden or on the lawn.
What is the composition of Oscorna BodenAktivator ?
OSCORNA BodenAktivator consists of animal and plant humus formers, algae lime, clay minerals and primary rock powder. In addition to magnesium and calcium, it contains other valuable trace elements such as iron, sulphur, iodine, manganese, zinc, boron, copper, molybdenum, cobalt, selenium and silicic acid.
The technical composition of BodenAktivator is NPK 3/2/0.5
- 3 % N nitrogen
- 2 % P phosphate
- 0.5 % K potassium oxide
In addition there is approx. 35% organic matter (measured as loss on ignition)
So the soil activator is not a nitrogen source (such as horn shavings) and not a complete fertiliser (such as OSCORNA Animalin) but a biological soil conditioner.
