Dear Rose Friend!

Since 1896, the company Schmid-Gartenpflanzen in Memmingen has stood for high-quality garden plants.

On the occasion of our 100th anniversary in 1996, while looking through our old catalogues from around the turn of the century, we rediscovered the 'Old Roses'.

These roses were already being cultivated in our own nursery at that time; some varieties were still in our range at that point, others no longer.

Enthusiastic about the fragrance, charm and robustness of the 'Old Roses', it was not a hard decision for us to propagate and cultivate a large selection of these varieties ourselves again.

In the following years the range of roses was expanded further by numerous English Roses by David Austin, modern shrub and climbing roses as well as roses by Delbard, Guillot, and patio and ground cover roses. And anyone with a lot of space will also find a suitable rambler rose. In addition to roses, a full range of Clematis was added later, and somewhat later we decided to also offer the Peter Beales programme in autumn and spring, with more than 1000 rose varieties.

And so it is that our family business, now run in the 4th generation by Karl-Heinz Schmid, has for more than 100 years offered an exceptionally broad range of high-quality garden roses - even though many of the 'novelties' of back then have meanwhile become proven 'classics'.
