Beautiful luminous red, but to be handled with careI bought this shrub rose for its lovely flower colour. The luminous red has a great visual impact from a distance. It stands - in a group of three each time - at two different locations. One shady, one in full sun, quite airy, on heavy clay soil.
Unfortunately it is very susceptible to black spot at both locations and quickly goes bare right up to the tips of the shoots. Without repeated spraying it simply doesn't work. With appropriate pruning the growth is strong. After the first flush I cut the long shoots back by at least half, as otherwise it branches little and looks rather gangly. The quickly regrowing shoots give a lovely repeat bloom into autumn. And watch out! It is very thorny. After more than 10 years I have now said goodbye to both groups. The susceptibility to black spot and the care required were too much for me.Automatically translated · Show original
