Clematis 'Parasol' was raised by the British breeder Frank Watkinson and introduced before 1988. Its large flowers reach 10 to 15 cm across and appear in soft pink with an irregular, darker marking: as the blooms open, the tepal edges take on a reddish shimmer, giving each flower its own individual pattern.
'Parasol' flowers first in June and produces a second flush from July to August. Growing to around 300 cm, this vigorous variety is well suited to trellises, climbing frames and pergolas in sunny to partially shaded spots, where it makes a striking display.
Hardy to zone 6 (around -23.3 to -17.8°C), 'Parasol' suits gardens in temperate regions well. For care, cut the stems back to about 50 cm in March to keep the plant compact and encourage vigorous new growth through summer.
