Clematis 'Yukiokoshi' is an old Japanese variety from the Kazaguruma group, brought to Europe in the 19th century by the botanist Philipp Franz von Siebold. It bears double, pure white flowers 10 to 12 cm across, their numerous, loosely arranged and slightly twisted petals showing a delicate greenish tinge at the base during the first flowering.
It flowers from May to June and reaches a height of around 300 cm. Despite its lushly double flowers, 'Yukiokoshi' grows vigorously and robustly; it is well suited to trellises, lattice screens and obelisks, and also thrives in containers, in sunny to semi-shaded spots facing almost any direction.
'Yukiokoshi' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to about -23.3 °C) and belongs to pruning group 2. For vigorous growth and abundant flowering, cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June.
