Clematis 'Shorty' was selected by the breeder Jan Fopma and belongs to the Clematis tangutica group. Its bright yellow flowers are rather small at 4-5 cm, but the variety as a whole grows compactly and modestly.
'Shorty' shows off its flowers from August to September, reaching a height of around 300 cm. Its modest, compact growth makes it a good choice for smaller trellises, obelisks or containers, where it is easily kept in check.
'Shorty' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 5, down to about -28.8 to -23.4 °C). Cut the plant back to about 25 cm in March so it sprouts vigorously and flowers reliably.
