Clematis 'Minie Bell' was bred in 2000 by Dutch breeder Wim Snoeijer and introduced under this name in 2007; the parent plants were not disclosed by the breeder. The variety is named after Mrs. Mienie Fopma-Manten. It belongs to the Texensis group and bears delicate, tulip-shaped flowers in pale pink with a slightly darker margin, cream-coloured filaments and yellowish anthers; the flowers reach about 4 cm and open a little further over time.
From June to September, 'Minie Bell' produces flowers continuously, providing a long summer bloom in the garden. With a height of around 200 cm, it works well on trellises, obelisks and larger containers, while its compact growth also suits smaller gardens.
'Minie Bell' is hardy to zone 7 (approximately -17.7 to -12.3 °C) and copes reliably with cooler locations. Pruning takes place in March, cutting back to about 25 cm above ground – placing the variety in pruning group 3 (hard prune), which makes spring care especially simple.
