Clematis 'Corry' was raised in 1975 at the Boskoop Research Station in the Netherlands, a cross of Clematis tangutica subsp. obtusiuscula and Clematis tibetana subsp. vernayi. Its large, nodding flowers glow vivid lemon-yellow and reach 5-6 cm across.
Growing to around 300 cm, 'Corry' is one of the more compact cultivars in the Tangutica Group and flowers freely from July to September. It suits fences, trellises, pergolas and larger containers, thriving in sunny to semi-shaded positions.
'Corry' is reliably hardy (zone 5, down to about -28 °C). For vigorous new growth and abundant flowering, cut the plant back to about 25 cm in March.
