The Clematis 'Mary-Claire' comes from the English breeder Jim Fisk and belongs to the large-flowered Patens hybrids. Its pure white flowers reach 15 cm across and often appear semi-double at the main flowering, with numerous petals and bright yellow stamens for contrast.
'Mary-Claire' unfolds its floral display from May to June. Reaching around 300 cm in height, the variety suits trellises, trellage and obelisks well, and it also thrives in container culture on a patio or balcony, climbing up a support.
'Mary-Claire' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C). For vigorous growth and abundant flowering, cut the plant back to approx. 100 cm in June; this corresponds to the light pruning of Group 2.
