Clematis 'Polaris' is a novelty from Polish breeder Szczepan Marczyński, launching in 2026 and protected by plant breeders' rights (PBR). Its large flowers, 14 to 17 cm across, appear in pure white, adding a bright, striking accent to beds and trellises.
'Polaris' flowers from May to June and reaches a height of 150 to 200 cm. Its compact size makes it an ideal choice for containers on balconies and terraces as well as for trellises, obelisks and smaller supports in modest-sized gardens. It thrives equally well in south-, east- and west-facing positions.
With zone 4, 'Polaris' is very winter-hardy and tolerates temperatures down to about -34 °C. For vigorous growth and a rich flowering next year, cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June; it belongs to pruning group 2, which calls for light pruning.
