Clematis 'Neonka' is a plant-variety-protected novelty introduced in 2024 by Polish breeder Szczepan Marczyński of Pruszków. Its 8-12 cm single flowers, usually with 5 to 6 sepals, glow in a rich deep violet-blue and carry a striking yellow centre of numerous stamens.
At 200-250 cm, 'Neonka' climbs vigorously by its leaf stalks over trellises, trelliswork, pergolas and fences, and suits free-standing supports just as well. It flowers continuously from June to September, occasionally longer in sheltered spots, and blooms most abundantly in sunny positions with fertile, free-draining soil.
'Neonka' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 4, down to about -34 °C). As one of the hard-pruned varieties, cut the stems back to about 50 cm in March so the plant breaks vigorously and flowers all the more richly. As a young novelty it gains fullness from year to year and shows its full flowering power once established.
