Clematis 'Ninon' was raised by British breeder Raymond Evison and introduced in 2013 as part of the compact Boulevard Series. Its 6–8 cm flowers are pure white with slightly wavy-edged tepals, and the red-purple stamens add a fine contrast at the centre. The flowers are fragrant.
'Ninon' flowers from May to September and stays pleasantly compact at 60–100 cm. That makes it a good fit for containers on balconies and terraces, small supports and obelisks, and for city and cottage gardens. It thrives in full sun as well as partial shade; keep the root zone cool and shaded with underplanting or a layer of pebbles.
'Ninon' is very hardy (zone 4, down to about -34 °C). For vigorous growth and abundant flowers, cut the plant back to about 30 cm every March. Plant it 5–8 cm deep so that it forms additional shoots underground.
