Clematis heracleifolia 'Cassandra' was raised at the Gräfin von Zeppelin perennial nursery in Laufen, Germany. It bears numerous small, hyacinth-shaped flowers in a rich mid to deep blue, about 3 cm across, with a pronounced, wonderful fragrance that also attracts insects.
'Cassandra' flowers from July to September and stays pleasantly compact at around 100 cm. As a herbaceous, non-climbing perennial clematis, it is excellent for the border and for containers, though not as a climber; it thrives in a sunny to semi-shaded spot.
'Cassandra' is reliably hardy (zone 5, down to around -28.8 °C) and dies back above ground in winter. For vigorous growth, cut the plant back to about 25 cm in March.

Wonderful plant! After the first year it reaches 1 m in height. Its flowers have a lovely colour and you can smell the scent from 2 metres away. A wonderful fragrance reminiscent of spring flowers like hyacinth, but at the end of summer. Uncomplicated - only prune in spring. In my garden the plant stands in partial shade.Automatically translated · Show original
