Clematis 'Natascha' was introduced around 1984 by German breeder Friedrich Westphal. The variety belongs to the Clematis hybrids (patens) group and produces striking 12 to 14 cm flowers in a violet-blue shade. Its six to eight lance-shaped tepals have a slightly wavy margin and curl at the tip as they age, while purple to red anthers on pink filaments add a lovely accent at the centre of each bloom.
'Natascha' opens its first flowers in June and produces a further flush from July to August. Reaching around 250 cm in height, this climbing clematis is well suited to trellises, trellis panels and obelisks on walls, pergolas or fences, and can also be grown in a large container.
With hardiness down to zone 6 (-23.3 to -17.8 °C), 'Natascha' copes well even with colder winters. For care, it is recommended to cut the plant back to around 100 cm in June, which encourages vigorous, bushy growth and abundant flowering afterwards.
