Clematis 'Hot Love' was bred by Polish specialist Szczepan Marczyński and launched in 2023. Its 15 cm flowers glow in various shades of purple – red-pink to burgundy with a whitish-green central bar on the underside and up to 120 petals; early in the season they appear double or semi-double, later single.
'Hot Love' flowers from May to July at a compact height of 100 to 150 cm – making it especially suited to container growing on a balcony or terrace, but also to smaller trellises and climbing frames in a border. A sunny position benefits its growth.
'Hot Love' is very winter-hardy (zone 4, down to about -34 °C). Cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June to encourage vigorous new growth. As a PBR-protected variety, 'Hot Love' may not be propagated.
