Clematis 'Prosperity' arose as a bud sport of 'Continuity' and was discovered by Caroline Todhunter in her garden; 2006 is given as the year of introduction. Its 6–8 cm flowers are white, single and lightly scented. The petals have a satin-like texture and wavy margins, while the creamy-white stamens add a delicate accent.
'Prosperity' flowers in June. At around 200 cm it stays compact and suits trellises, fences and other supports as well as containers. It does best in a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil; keep the root zone cool and shaded with neighbouring plants or a layer of pebbles.
'Prosperity' is winter-hardy (zone 9, -6.6 to -1.2 °C). For vigorous growth, cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June. Plant with the crown 5 to 8 cm deep, which encourages shoots from below ground and strong development.
