Clematis 'Floral Dance' comes from the Polish breeder Szczepan Marczyński: raised in 2013, named in 2020 and on sale since 2021. Its 5–7 cm flowers are semi-double to double in a deep violet-blue with a fine purple stripe, paler on the outside. About 35 elliptic, overlapping tepals with wavy margins and yellow anthers give them their dancing fullness; decorative seed-heads remain after flowering.
The main flowering lasts from June to July, followed by a lighter second flush in September. At 200 to 250 cm, 'Floral Dance' grows vigorously and suits trellises, obelisks and other supports as well as large containers on balconies and terraces. Thanks to its hard spring pruning it is also a good companion for roses. It likes a well-lit position and fertile, moderately moist, well-drained soil.
'Floral Dance' is very hardy (zone 4, -34.4 to -28.9 °C). Cut the plant back to about 50 cm in March.
