Clematis 'Luminous Dusk' was bred by the Polish breeder Szczepan Marczyński and has been available since 2023. It belongs to the alpine clematis group (Atragene group) and shows its dark violet, bell-shaped flowers as early as spring – 6 to 7 cm across, double, with numerous wavy tepals and a delicate lemony scent. Its striking golden-yellow foliage adds a further eye-catching feature.
In full bloom from April to May, 'Luminous Dusk' reaches a height of 200 to 250 cm, making it well suited to trellises, pergolas and larger supports – as well as low fences, old tree stumps or as a climbing aid on shrubs. After flowering, fluffy seed heads decorate the plant from June into autumn.
'Luminous Dusk' is exceptionally winter-hardy (zone 3, down to below -34 °C) and therefore also suitable for very cold, exposed sites. For vigorous growth and abundant flowering, cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June.
