Clematis 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' ('Zohapbi') was registered in 2009 and bears upright, well-opening flowers 6-10 cm across: they open in pale purple-violet and deepen as they age to a strong cobalt blue.
Reaching up to 300 cm, 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' is among the more vigorous cultivars and suits tall trellises, pergolas and fences in a sunny position. It flowers from June to September.
'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' is winter-hardy (zone 5, down to about -28 °C). Cut the plant back hard to about 25 cm in March so it puts on vigorous new growth and flowers freely in summer.
