The clematis 'GLORIOUS® Day' (breeding code 'Zo23020') comes from the breeding programme of J. van Zoest BV in Boskoop, the Netherlands, and reached the market in August 2023. Its flowers appear in dark purple-violet and measure about 6 to 8 centimetres across; single and semi-double flowers are borne on the same stem.
'GLORIOUS® Day' flowers from July to September and reaches a height of around 300 centimetres. As a member of the Viticella Group, it suits trellises and climbing frames, an obelisk in a patio container, or scrambling through sturdy shrubs. It is happiest in a sunny to part-shaded position.
The variety is hardy in zone 6 (down to around -23.3°C). Cut it back to about 25 centimetres in March; as a pruning group 3 plant, it then shoots vigorously and flowers freely on the new growth.
