Clematis 'Jolly Good' (Zojogo) comes from Dutch breeder Wim Snoeijer, who raised it in 1997, selected it in 2000 and introduced it in 2007. Its 5–8 cm flowers are held upright and carry four to six tepals in violet-pink with a darker centre; creamy-yellow stamens add a light accent.
From June to August, at around 150 cm tall, 'Jolly Good' decorates trellises, obelisks and other supports. It grows in sun as well as partial shade and likes moist but well-drained soil; keep the root zone cool and shaded, for example with underplanting or a layer of pebbles.
'Jolly Good' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C). It flowers on the current season's growth: cut the plant back to about 25 cm in March and it will shoot again. Plant the crown 5–8 cm deep so that new shoots also form below ground.
