Clematis 'Summerdream' was bred in 1999 by Dutch breeder Wim Snoeijer and introduced to the trade in 2008 under the cultivar name 'Zosumdre'. Its pink flowers open cup-shaped at first and later spread into a star shape, with four to six slightly overlapping tepals; at the centre stand cream filaments with a purple base and pale purple anthers.
From June to September, 'Summerdream' flowers continuously and reaches a height of around 150 cm — ideal for trellises, obelisks or climbing frames, and equally suited to a container on a patio or balcony. The breeder places the cultivar among the patens-group hybrids, matching its flower size and shape.
'Summerdream' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to about −23.3 to −17.8 °C) and rewards a hard prune to around 25 cm in March with vigorous new growth and abundant flowering throughout summer.
