Clematis 'Matka Siedliska' was raised around 1970 by the Polish breeder Brother Stefan Franczak, first flowered in 1981 and has been on the market since 1987. It is named in honour of Mother Maria Franciszka Siedliska (1842–1902), founder of the convent of the Holy Family of Nazareth, who was beatified in 1989. The flowers measure 12–15 cm across and are white to pale pink with a pink central bar on each tepal. On old wood they are semi-double to double, on new growth single with six to eight finely crimped, pointed tepals.
The first flush begins in June, followed by a second flush on the new shoots in July and August. At about 200 cm tall, 'Matka Siedliska' suits medium-sized supports such as trellises or obelisks. It thrives in sun to semi-shade and appreciates fertile, moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
'Matka Siedliska' is hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C) and considered undemanding. Cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June – this encourages vigorous growth and abundant flowering.
