Clematis 'Dominika' was raised in 1972 by the Polish breeder Stefan Franczak; its name is a Polish female name. Its large flowers measure 12–15 cm and appear in pale blue that deepens to a stronger mauve-blue towards the edge. The four broadly elliptic sepals overlap and are deeply grooved, and the anthers glow creamy white to greenish yellow.
'Dominika' flowers from June to August and reaches around 250 cm in height. This makes it suitable for trellises, obelisks and other supports. It thrives in sun as well as partial shade and needs moist, well-drained soil.
'Dominika' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 5, about -29 to -23 °C). Plant the crown 5–8 cm deep so that the plant also produces new shoots from below ground. For vigorous growth and abundant flowering, cut it back to about 25 cm in March. Give it a few years to reach its full size.
