Clematis 'Violet Charm' was bred in England in 1966 by Solihull Nurseries and introduced in 1972 by the Jim Fisk nursery. Its large flowers appear in a bold violet shade and reach a diameter of 15 to 20 cm.
Growing to around 200 cm, 'Violet Charm' is well suited to trellises, trellage and obelisks as well as container growing on a balcony or patio. It flowers continuously from June to September, providing colour all summer long in sunny to partially shaded spots, while the root area should be kept cool and shaded.
'Violet Charm' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C) and copes well with harsher winters in the garden. For vigorous growth and abundant flowering, prune the shoots back to about 50 cm in March.
