Clematis 'Sweet Morning' is a 2025 introduction from Polish breeder Szczepan Marczyński. Its large, 11 to 15 cm flowers open in pure white and release a pleasant fragrance – a special trait among large-flowered clematis in the patens group.
Growing to 200-300 cm, 'Sweet Morning' climbs vigorously over trellises, supports and obelisks and flowers from May to June. It thrives equally on south-, east- and west-facing spots and also cuts a fine figure in a large container on a patio or balcony.
'Sweet Morning' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 4, down to about -34 to -29°C). Cut the plant back to about 150 cm in March (pruning group 2) to encourage vigorous new growth and reliable flowering. As a plant-breeders'-rights-protected cultivar, it is still fresh to the market and rarely seen in gardens.
