Clematis 'Mrs P.B. Truax' was introduced in 1939 by the British nursery G. Jackman & Son and belongs to the time-honoured varieties of the Patens group. Its large flowers open in a rich violet-blue and reach a diameter of 12 to 15 cm.
'Mrs P.B. Truax' blooms from June to July and reaches a height of around 200 cm. This makes it perfect for trellises, obelisks and containers, climbing a support in a bed or pot. A sunny to partially shaded spot with a cool, shaded root area suits it well.
'Mrs P.B. Truax' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to approx. -23.3°C) and copes well even with harsher winters. Cut back the shoots to about 50 cm in March to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant flowering.
