Clematis heracleifolia

Clematis Heracleifolia group: Herbaceous growth, or climbers with a woody base. Some varieties die back to the base in winter. Flowers from summer to early autumn on mature or growing shoots, but always on new growth. Tubular, bell-shaped or almost open flowers up to 4 cm across. 4-6 tepals in white, cream-yellow, reddish purple, or violet-blue. Some varieties are strongly fragrant. Herbaceous clematis make excellent rose companions.
Origin: The varieties descend, with at least one parent, from Clematis heracleifolia or Clematis stans.
Use: The larger varieties as climbers, which can reach up to 20 m if left unpruned. The herbaceous varieties in the border.
Pruning: Hard pruning to 20 cm in late winter.
Resistance: Susceptible to fungal diseases, especially in winter in waterlogged conditions.
Hardiness zone: 5, very hardy in Germany.
Planting depth: As in the pot, do not plant deeply.
