Clematis 'Pink Celebration' was introduced around 2000 by the English nursery Caddick's Clematis Nursery, initially under the name 'Celebration'; when another cultivar was given priority for that name in 2001, it has carried its present name ever since. Its 10 to 13 cm flowers show six to eight broadly elliptic, slightly overlapping sepals with a gently wavy margin in soft pink, shading towards mauve in the later flush, set off by creamy-yellow stamens.
At around 300 cm, 'Pink Celebration' climbs vigorously up trellises, pergolas and other supports, making it well suited to tall house walls or as a dense screen. Its main flowering runs from May to June. It is untroubled by aspect and thrives in many spots in the garden.
'Pink Celebration' is reliably hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C). Cut the stems back to about 100 cm after the first flowering in June, to keep the plant compact and encourage vigorous new growth. As a robust, undemanding hybrid, it also suits newcomers to clematis care.
