Clematis 'Louise Rowe' delights with 12-15 cm flowers in pale violet that open semi-double to double in early summer, their delicate form recalling butterflies. 'Louise Rowe' is one of the few early double-flowered clematis that can show double, semi-double and single blooms within the same season.
'Louise Rowe' flowers first in June and shows a second, this time single flush from July to August. At around 200 cm, the variety suits trellises, obelisks and other supports well, and also grows well in containers on patios and balconies.
'Louise Rowe' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C). For strong growth and abundant flowering, cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June; since the double early-summer flowers form on last year's wood, a moderate pruning approach pays off.

Luise Rowe is a wonderful clematis. Her delicate, pale lilac flowers are large and semi-double in spring. They look like delicate butterflies. Bloom period at mine:
2007: from 04.05. to 08.06. and from 04.08. to 10.11. (135 days)
2008: from 04.06. to 04.07. and from 05.09. until today (09.11.2008). That makes 97 days so far.
She is very healthy and one of my most beautiful.
Whoever prefers a fully double flower is well served by the clematis Veronica's Choice. The flower colour is exactly the same, except that in spring it is fully double. It then also has a ring of petals with a slight green stripe around the double centre - gorgeous. In autumn it is single and more white than pale lilac.

In its 3rd year Louise Rowe flowered double in spring. A wonderful, tall-built, compact flower. These flowers only appear on 2-year-old wood.
