Clematis 'Denny's Double' is held by the International Clematis Society as a nomenclatural standard: standardised on 15 May 1995 with a herbarium voucher at RHS Wisley (United Kingdom) and officially registered in 2000. Its flowers, 8 to 10 cm across, appear in a delicate pale shade of blue.
At around 200 cm, 'Denny's Double' suits trellises, obelisks and other supports, as well as container growing on balcony or terrace. The main flush appears from May to June, with a second flowering phase from July to August.
'Denny's Double' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 6, down to about -23 °C). Cut the plant back to about 75 cm in June after the first flowering to encourage the late-summer flush.
