Clematis 'Janny' comes from the Dutch breeder Pieter Zwijnenburg. The 4 cm flowers hang from the plant as small, semi-double bells in pink; the staminodes inside are slightly paler than the sepals.
'Janny' flowers from May to July. At around 300 cm, this Atragene clematis clothes trellises, fences and pergolas and suits a cottage garden as well as a town courtyard. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil, and accepts chalk, clay, loam and sand alike.
'Janny' is very hardy (zone 5, down to about -28 °C). Cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June. Plant it with the crown 5–8 cm below the soil surface – this encourages shoots from the base.
