Hello,
I came across this rose by chance - and I'm completely thrilled. I actually have old roses in my garden, but this (young, English) one fits in perfectly. Healthy, so far completely free of disease (I've had it for 6 years), a wonderful, incomparable, oriental-tinged fragrance. Strong blooms that are much darker than in the picture here (more black-red). The blooms are firm and dahlia-shaped. It is blooming now (end of June) and for the rest of the summer it still gives me quite a few more beautiful blooms as it reblooms...
Kind regards
Cornelia

For the outer edge of a border or in a pot!

This pretty little rose deserved to be better known. The shrub is perhaps knee-high and just as wide, rather weak-growing. Many thin, branching shoots. Growth, leaves and blooms harmonise very well. Needs a warm spot during the growing season. Feeding right after the first flush is very important. It doesn't just grow on its own; it does need a bit of attention, which it certainly deserves.
In their softness the blooms have strayed from a Gallica, more so than with other English roses. They change shape and colour as they open, up to a rosette in ruby/wine red that lasts a long time and also looks beautiful dried.
And whoever bends down also discovers a lovely fragrance.
