Rosa 'Eye of the Storm' is a modern Persica hybrid that immediately catches the eye with its unmistakable bloom markings. The semi-double, cerise to pink blooms open to reveal a striking dark violet to almost black centre, forming the typical "eye effect" of this rose group.
The variety grows compact and bushy, reaching about 80 cm in height, which makes it very well suited for the foreground of flower beds as well as for cultivation in containers. The foliage appears healthy, slightly glossy and in a bronze-green tone that additionally emphasises the vivid blooms.
'Eye of the Storm' flowers reliably and repeatedly from early summer into autumn, ensuring a consistent flowering effect in the garden over a long period. The blooms appear in small groups, giving them a particularly lively and decorative effect.
The fragrance is described as slight, but it does not take centre stage, as the variety convinces above all through its extraordinary appearance and strong ornamental value.
Persica hybrids are known for their characteristic dark bloom eye and trace back to the wild species Rosa persica, whose striking eye marking was deliberately bred into modern garden roses.
'Eye of the Storm' is a compact, modern shrub rose with an extraordinary bloom pattern that, through its high-contrast "eye", its long flowering period and its compact growth, sets strong accents especially in flower beds and planters.
