Clematis 'Betty Risdon' was bred by the British breeders Vince and Sylvia Denny and named after a former treasurer of the British Clematis Society. Its flowers, about 15 cm across, are pink with darker, pinkish-red edges and bars, complemented by yellow anthers. 'Kathleen Wheeler' is among its parents.
The main flowering falls in May to June, followed by a second flush in July. At about 200 cm tall, 'Betty Risdon' is a climber for medium-height supports. It thrives in sunny to semi-shaded positions.
'Betty Risdon' is quite hardy (zone 6, -23.3 to -17.8 °C). It belongs to pruning group 2: cut the plant back to 100 cm in June.
