Clematis 'Jacqui' arose in the mid-1990s as a chance seedling in the Hertfordshire garden of Jacqui Williams, England, and was introduced in 1998; its parentage is unknown. Its 6–7 cm flowers appear in a mixture of double, semi-double and single forms: white with a delicate pink tinge on the reverse of the tepals, plus creamy stamens with yellow anthers. The flowers have a pleasant, sweet fragrance.
'Jacqui' flowers from May to June and, as a vigorous climber, reaches a height of around 350 cm. This makes it well suited to trellises, fences and other climbing supports, though it also happily climbs house walls or larger shrubs. In a sunny position, the flowers' fragrance is at its strongest.
'Jacqui' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 7, down to about -17.7 °C). Cut the plant back to about 100 cm in June after flowering to encourage compact, floriferous growth. In 2001 the variety was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the British Clematis Society.
