Clematis alpina 'Pink Princess' belongs to the Atragene group and bears delicate, bell-shaped, nodding flowers with four sepals in pink, surrounded by finely greenish-tinged staminodes, about 6 centimetres across.
'Pink Princess' flowers from April to May on the previous year's wood and reaches a height of around 300 centimetres. Belonging to the robust Atragene group, it suits trellises, obelisks or trellised structures well and can also be grown in a large container – in gardens both small and generously sized.
With hardiness zone 5 (down to about -28.8 to -23.4 °C), 'Pink Princess' is reliably hardy. Since flowers form on old wood, pruning should take place after flowering: cut the plant back to around 100 centimetres in June to encourage compact, richly flowering growth.
