Clematis 'Pamjatj Serdtza' was raised in 1967 by the Ukrainian breeder Margarita Beskaravainaya in what was then the Soviet Union. Its Russian name means “memory of the heart”. The 6–10 cm flowers are violet, darker at the shiny midribs and paler at the margins, bell-shaped, nodding and slightly curved at the tip; the twisted petals have ragged edges that often open only part-way.
'Pamjatj Serdtza' flowers from July to September and keeps blooming for many weeks. At around 180 cm tall, it is a stately herbaceous clematis that accepts both sunny and partly shaded positions.
'Pamjatj Serdtza' is reliably winter-hardy (zone 5, down to about -29 °C). Cut the plant back to about 25 cm in March.
