The wild rose Rosa Canina, often also called the 'dog rose', grows into a large rose shrub with an arching, spreading growth habit. Its single flowers have only a slight fragrance, but the foliage has a clearly perceptible scent of apple. In autumn, numerous rose hips adorn the often long hedges of R. Canina. Birds and other animals gladly use this near-natural rose as a food source and refuge.
