(Damask rose) The rose Omar Khayyam grew from a cutting taken from a rose bush on the grave of Edward Fitzgerald in Suffolk. This rose bush was planted there in 1893 and is a seedling of a rose that adorned the grave of the Persian poet Omar Khayyam in Nishapur. The medium-sized, light pink flowers are quartered. The foliage is greyish light green and downy.
