This very old rose, growing on a farm near Bad Tölz for more than 150 years, bears medium-sized, globular, heavily double blooms. The numerous petals are very thin and exude an intense, heavy fragrance. This rose is presumably to be classified among the Centifolia roses.
The shrub grows in an arching, spreading manner and may need a support. Illustrations of this rose have adorned farmhouse furniture in the region around Bad Tölz for many years; a graft of the rose was also planted by the Franciscans at the monastery.
