Clematis 'Acropolis' (trade designation 'Evipo078') was introduced in 2014 by British breeder Raymond Evison and belongs to the Boulevard Series. Its flowers are 7–10 cm across and bright pink, each of the six slightly wavy, pointed sepals marked with a narrow, darker pink to red-purple bar down the centre. Creamy-white stamens add a light accent in the middle of the flower.
At 90–120 cm, 'Acropolis' stays pleasantly compact and suits containers and patios as well as small borders with a low support. The flowering period runs from May to September and is described in cultivar profiles as particularly abundant and long-lasting. Choose a sunny to partly shaded position with moist but well-drained soil; in a pot, the container should be at least 45 cm deep.
'Acropolis' is hardy (zone 5, down to about -29 °C). Cut the plant back hard to about 10 cm in March – it then shoots strongly and sets plenty of flowers. Plant the crown about 5–8 cm deep so that new shoots can form below ground.
