Rosa acicularis is a wild rose with single, pink flowers 3.5 to 5 cm in diameter. It flowers once in early summer and is much visited by insects.
The deciduous shrub grows to around 1.5 m tall, taller in favourable spots, and suits hedges and natural plantings.
In autumn, red rose hips rich in vitamin C adorn the shrub. The species is very frost-hardy; in Canada it is the provincial flower of Alberta.
