Double, dark carmine-red to almost black flowers with a wonderful fragrance, which is actually unusual for a China rose.
Suitable for warmer climates. This extraordinary, truly very dark red rose tends to burn in full sun and therefore does better in partial shade, and is also happy in a container.

Louis XIV has been in our garden for about 4 years, in a sunny spot that is, however, shaded by trees at certain times of day. The soil at this spot is rather very loamy, so the planting hole was especially well prepared with added compost. The little plant stays quite small, it actually doesn't budge at all, but despite the terrible last winters it is still there without any winter protection and blooms. With other roses I have had the experience that sometimes several years can pass before they take off. So I'm waiting patiently to see how things go with the delicate Louis. The flowers, which are quite small but very beautiful, and the fragrance are worth it.Automatically translated · Show original
